Celebrating Thanksgiving in your apartment in Charleston, SC with family and friends should be fun. Don’t want to go shopping on Black Friday? If you are looking for something more exiting to the senses, here is a list of where to go in the Charleston area for an offering of sights, sounds, scents and tastes this holiday.

A feast for the eyes and more can be found at the Festival of Lights which  will continue illuminating Charleston until January 1, 2012. Enjoy the amazing light show and enjoy a train ride, delight in the scent of fresh baked goodies when you visit "Santa's Sweet Shop" and tempt the palette with roasted marshmallows at an event that is great for people of all ages.

In the spirit of the season you can also help your local furry friends on December 7. Bring your pet for a picture with Santa at James Island County Park and the proceeds will benefit a local animal shelter. In addition, when you donate pet food you will receive 20% off the price of a photo package. This event is aptly named "Santa Paws".

And finally on Thanksgiving day, if you don’t feel like cooking, skip it and head out on the town for a bite or a buffet.
